Shen Yun Performing Arts"A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance."
The Shen Yun performers are trained in the art of classical Chinese dance. Each dance is specific in expressing a feeling. In classical Chinese dance, the body is driven by meaning. Unlike other parts of the world, it uses the human body's natural abilities and doesn't require intense training on individual muscles. In addition to expressing emotion, classical Chinese dance is used to recount thousands of years of history. The four components include: form, bearing, dance technique, and tumbling technique. Theatrical dances, like the Shen Yun performances, also contain an acting element. This acting is different than seen in films and traditional drama. It is used to amplify expression by coordinating facial expressions with physical movement during a routine. (Li Hongzhi, What is Classical Chinese Dance) |
