After the Opium Wars in the 1840's, China's open doors began to let in and blend their ancient styles with Western Influences up until the creation of People's Republic of China in the 1940's. Once China opened back up to the world in the 1980's, new styles of architecture began to emerge. These new styles created world-class architectural buildings to be showcased to the world.
Famous Modern Buildings
These new styles of architecture are all about bold, expressive, and extravagant. This emphasis on the flamboyant gives an architect's imagination boundless opportunities to reveal any ideas. The rate of which these ideas are being built has significantly sped up in the last 100 years. With these new buildings popping up everywhere, there is much controversy on natives not wanting these extravagant buildings in their cities. Overall, China has emerged front and center on the platform of cutting edge architecture and gives the perfect stage to perform new styles of architecture.
